Rain Taxi // Interview with Tyehimba Jess

The Spring 2006 print edition of Rain Taxi has an interview I did with the poet Tyehimba Jess during Thanksgiving break last year. If you haven't read his leadbelly yet, you're missing out on a remarkable book.

And of all the Leadbelly CD compilations out there, many of dubious quality, this one is by far my favorite. It contains the so-called "Stinson sessions" from 1942 and '44, which Leadbetter recorded in order to pay off the legal bills after stabbing a man who broke into his Harlem apartment.
